Proposition 8, again
The bigidiots of California have taken a hit to the ‘nadettes as a judge in the California Supreme Court has struck down Proposition 8, known by the normal as “Proposition Hate”. Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled Wednesday that the ignorant proposition was unconstitutional and stupid, as were the people who brought it forward. Well, he didn’t actually say the stupid part, but I bet he was thinking it.
As everybody remembers in early 2008 the Supreme Court of California legalized same-sex marriage (yes, the idea that something as obvious as same-sex marriage had to be made “legal” is bizarre, but it gets bizarrer) and it was only five months later, in November of that same year that the good people of California voted 52% to take away the right of same-sex couples to marry. No, this does not mean that 52% of Californians are bigoted, self-righteous, toad-bags, but it does mean that a lot of Californians are bigoted, self-righteous, toad-bags. The monkey-butts who supported Proposition 8 never actually had a good reason for being against same-sex marriage, unless you consider the usual religious based reasons to be good, and I do not, and this is what Judge Walker said in his written decision. Proposition 8 "fails to advance any rational basis for singling out gay men and women," Judge Walker wrote. "(This law) does nothing more than enshrine ... that opposite-sex couples are superior."
So does it end here? Of course not. The US Supreme Court is next because religious bigots and other low-lifes are nothing if not determined to run everybody’s life in their own morally bankrupt way. “I’ll tell you how to live” is their motto and I would like to see them try. We are fortunate in Canada that this particular type of vermin keeps it’s mindset under a rock, where it belongs and not out where it can offend normal people. No, we are not perfect, but to judge someone based on sexual orientation is about as messed up as it gets, and there seems to be a little too much of that going on south of the 49th. Stay tuned.
