The most humane thing

There is an off-leash dog park in Red Deer, Alberta where a dog or two was killed by local beavers. Apparently the dogs followed the beavers into the water and the beavers felt threatened and attacked and killed the dogs. Instead of doing the right thing and telling the grieving owners to smarten up and watch their dogs next time, the Red Deer parks superintendent, Trevor Poth, says that the beavers will have to be destroyed. "... the most humane thing we can do in this situation is to actually eliminate the beavers from the area altogether", Trevor says. I have to wonder, since killing these beavers because of human stupidity is the most humane thing they can do, what would the least humane thing they could do be? Man.
